Before You Leave Home

Q: What documentation do I need to bring?
A: All guests must have valid passports and necessary visas at time of embarkation. Travel documents required throughout the holiday are the responsibility of the guest. Please consult with your travel agent, government agencies, embassies or consulates to determine documentary requirements.

Any guest travelling without proper documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of cruise fare will be issued.

For all non-US citizens, U.S. authorities require that all travel documents (passport, visas, etc.) be collected upon check-in at Port Canaveral by an official Disney Cruise Line representative and a document receipt will be issued. Before the end of the cruise, non-US citizens please check with the Purser's Office aboard the ship to retrieve your travel documents, upon presentation of your receipt.

Q: Should I bring cash? Credit cards? Foreign currency?
A: Transactions aboard the ship are in U.S. dollars. In The Bahamas and the Caribbean, U.S. dollars and major credit cards are accepted almost everywhere. But you won't need to bring much cash (except for shoreside purchases), because Disney Cruise Line has a convenient "cash-free" system on board the ship. When you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort or at the Disney Cruise Line Terminal at Port Canaveral, your signature will be requested for check-in. At this time you may also present a credit card (VISA®, VISA Electron®, Japanese Credit Bureau (JCB), Diners Club®, Discover® Card, MasterCard®, American Express®, The Disney Credit Card), which will give you charging privileges at both the Walt Disney World Resort and aboard the ship. Any purchases on the ship, including beverage services, spa, salon services, photography, medical and laundry services, purchases from the retail shops, gratuities, and any item or service of a personal nature can then be charged to your room.

All charges must be settled before your Resort departure and debarkation from the ship by cash, travellers cheques, Disney Dollars, VISA®, VISA Electron®, Japanese Credit Bureau (JCB), Diners Club®, Discover® Card, MasterCard®, American Express®, or The Disney Credit Card. (Any other expenses are payable at time of service.)

Note: Credit card payments are subject to credit clearance.

Q: What should I pack?
A: The Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line offer a casual, informal resort atmosphere. During the summer months, light-weight shorts, trousers, sundresses, jeans and shirts are all appropriate daytime attire in The Bahamas and Central Florida. In the winter, a light jacket, pullover and socks may be needed for cooler days and nights. Bring comfortable shoes - like deck shoes, sandals or trainers. And don't forget swimwear, sunglasses, a sunhat or visor and sunscreen - especially for the children.

Shipboard evening attire for Animator's Palate and Parrot Cay dining rooms is casual. Button-down, open-collar shirts or polo shirts and trousers are recommended for men. Trousers and a blouse or a casual dress are appropriate for ladies. For Lumière's and Triton's restaurants and the adult-only alternative restaurant, Palo, it is suggested that men wear jackets and ladies wear dresses or trouser suits. Disney Cruise Line kindly request that no shorts, T-shirts or jeans be worn in any of the restaurants in the evening.

Aboard the 7-Night Caribbean Cruise there are two evenings which require more formal - or 'black-tie-optional' attire. Tuxedo hire is available in advance for special dinners.

Remember to bring an adequate supply of any prescription drugs (in their original containers) you require and keep them in your carry-on luggage.

Also, be sure to bring an extra pair of glasses or contact lenses and your camera. Of course, if you do forget to bring something, you can probably buy it on board. Please note that pushchairs and wheelchairs are available for hire on board.

At Sea

Q: Can I call home from the ship?
A: You can direct dial anywhere in the world right from your stateroom. Ship-to-shore rates apply and will be charged to your stateroom.

Q: What's an assembly drill and do I have to go?
A: Everyone onboard the ship must participate in a compulsory safety drill before departure to comply with U.S. Coast Guard and international safety regulations. All passengers are required to attend.

Q: There's so much to do on the ship! How will I know what's going on and when?
A: On your cruise, a complete listing of all activities, adventures and entertainment will be available in your stateroom. Multilingual guest services crew and programming counsellors will be happy to assist you with your itinerary.

Q: Is there baby-sitting and child care on board?
A: Of course! Supervised children's programmes and activities are available on board from 9:00 am to midnight for children aged 3-12 years. Parents sign their children in and out of the programmes. Children must be potty trained in order to participate. Events have been designed for teenagers as well, aged 13-17 years.

Teenagers do not need to be signed in and out by parents. There is no additional charge for these planned events.

Group baby-sitting is available for children 12 weeks - 3 years old in Flounder's Reef Nursery. Guests must sign up their children between 1:30 and 3:30 pm on embarkation day. There is a fee of US$6 per child per hour and US$5 per additional child per hour, 2 hours minimum required. The facility will be open daily. Rates and times subject to change. Services are subject to availability.

Q: Is it true that children must be toilet-trained in order to enter the pools?
A: Yes. The United States Public Health Service requires that only children who are toilet-trained be permitted to enter swimming pools and spas on board cruise ships. Young children, who are not toilet-trained, are welcome to enjoy the fountain play area near the Mickey Pool that has been designed exclusively for the enjoyment of children wearing swim diapers.

Dining Onboard

Q: What time is dinner?
A: Dinner seatings are assigned for 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm. You should inform your travel agent of your seating time preference when you book your holiday. No requests are guaranteed. Generally, adults without children will dine with other adults while families dine with other families. Children's menus are available in the restaurants. In addition, a dinner buffet will be offered for children who participate in the supervised programmes during the dinner hour.

Q: What should I wear to dinner?
A: The attire in Animator's Palate and Parrot Cay is resort casual -- open-collar shirts and slacks for men and pants and a blouse or a casual dress for ladies. In Lumière's, Triton's, and Palo, it is suggested men wear jackets and ladies wear dresses or pantsuits. Disney Cruise Line kindly request that no shorts, T-shirts or jeans be worn in any of the restaurants in the evening. Disney Cruise Line also request that swimsuits not be worn in any dining location. However, if you prefer to dine in shorts or comfy jeans, along with your favourite T-shirt, you'll want to try Pluto's Doghouse or Pinocchio's Pizzeria. If you are sailing on the Disney Magic, you can take advantage of the relaxed dress code at Topsider Buffet. Of course, there's always room service. Or on special occasions, dress up in your colourful island attire, including flowered shirts and muu muus at the themed TROPICALIfragilistic-expialidocious Dinner. During the 7-Night Caribbean Cruise, appropriate attire is also suggested for the elegant and semi-formal evenings when dining with the Master Chef Series and the Captain's Gala Dinner. Tuxedo rentals are available in advance.

Q: Are children expected to follow the same dress code as adults?
A: Each parent or guardian would be the best judge of what attire is appropriate for the youngest cruisers. Guests who are age 13 or older would probably be most comfortable wearing attire similar to what is recommended above for all the ship's passengers.

Q: What is the policy for charging for beverages?
A: During meals, restaurants onboard serve complimentary coffee, tea, soda, milk and fruit juice with your meal. A variety of other beverages are also available and can be charged to your stateroom account. The following chart indicates which beverages are available onboard ship and on Castaway Cay and which incur a charge.
