Senior Writer

SUMMARY
Black Rock Studio is seeking an experienced writer to work closely with our in-house development teams.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
— Work with the Game Director and Design Director to develop a vision for the games storytelling style.
— Prepare and pitch whole story concepts and treatments for main stories, missions, etc.
— Become an integral part of all feature teams to ensure stories suit game design, art style, etc.
— Collaborate with the Cinematic Feature Team to improve and design in-game storytelling features.
— Write original cinematics, dialogue, and in-game text.
— Review and provide feedback on any external writer’s work.
— Acquire, distribute, and act on story feedback given by team members, executives, and external reviewers.
— Safeguard the story through to ship, acting as stakeholder for all creative work relevant to story assets (cinemas, interactive conversations, story-relevant UI, etc).
— Represent the story team’s work to the company at large.
— At times perform duties within the Design Department not necessarily limited to writing, story or narrative based work.

REQUIREMENTS
— Experience writing on at least one shipped story-based game that has received positive reviews for its story and written content.
— Experience working in a multi-disciplined team within a creative field.
— Writing samples demonstrating experience, talent, and interest in:
> General storytelling and pacing
> Dialogue
> Character Development
> Interactive, non-linear storytelling
> Action, sci-fi and similar genres
