Animator [Maya Generalist]

Black Rock Studio [a Disney Interactive Studio] is currently looking for an experienced Animator to join the team who are developing an unannounced arcade racing game on Xbox 360 & PS3.

Main Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Lead Animator, the Animator will provide specialist support to our animation and VFX team and play a significant role in the production of award winning set piece events and VFX sequences.

We are looking for an energetic, experienced and passionate team player who will work to drive our studio to continued success.

Key Activities:
— Make a significant direct contribution to the creation of in game set piece events and VFX sequences as they apply to real-time technology for the current generation of gaming consoles.
— Solving of technical production issues, especially those related technical animation & VFX.
— Build advanced level rigs to handle large set piece events in conjunction with the VFX team.
— Ability to prototype technical rigs through production of animation tests.

Essential Requirements:
— At least three years game or film production experience as a Technical Artist, Animator or VFX specialist.
— A significant contribution as a VFX Animator on at least one shipped AAA PS3 or Xbox360 title strongly preferred.
— Strong technical knowledge of Maya, specifically rigging and animation tools.
— Practical working knowledge of Maya dynamics and ridged body dynamics.
— Knowledge of Animation principles and ability to produce high quality key frame animation.
— An impressive reel demonstrating a range of work.
— Understanding of efficient pipeline/workflow techniques as they apply to animation.
— Experience writing MEL scripts is a distinct advantage.
— Strong problem solving skills.
— Good eye for detail and a passion for film, games and animation.
— Knowledge of and experience working with physical based animation simulations desirable.
— Able to take direction and work independently while being an effective team player.
